HypeServ
Factorio

First Start

Order your Factorio server on HypeServ and get it running for the first time.

This guide walks you through the entire first launch process for your Factorio server on HypeServ: From ordering the server to getting it running and connecting in-game for the very first time.

If you already own a HypeServ server, this page will show you how to get your server ready to join.

Order your Factorio Server

If you haven’t ordered your server yet, start here:

👉 Order a Factorio Server

Choose Factorio as the game, then pick a plan based on your expected initial player count and planned factory complexity. You can always upgrade later if your industrial empire grows too large!

Once checkout is complete, your server instance is created automatically in our system.
HypeServ deploys Factorio servers quickly. While the initial setup is fast, be prepared for a slightly longer first start as the world generation and configuration files are initialized.

Open the HypeServ Panel

After ordering, you'll automatically be redirected to your server dashboard.

Inside the panel you’ll see:

  • Your Factorio Server instance details
  • Server status (offline / starting / running)
  • Buttons to Start, Stop or Restart your server
  • Tabs for Console, Files, Backups, Ports, and more

This is where you control your entire server environment.

Start the Server

Click Start to perform a startup action for your server.

The first start may take a little longer than usual because:
  • The engine is processing the mapgen seed to generate terrain and resource patches.
  • Initial configuration files (like server-settings.json) are being parsed.
  • The server is initializing the factory simulation loop.
Open the Console tab to watch the startup process in real time. Look for a message indicating that the server has successfully initialized and is waiting for connections.
If something goes wrong during startup, don’t panic! Check the Troubleshooting page in this wiki or contact HypeServ support; we're here to help you get back to building!

Initial Configuration & Connection Prep

Factorio relies heavily on server-settings.json for gameplay rules (like resource availability and enemy evolution).

  1. Open the Console tab in the HypeServ panel.
  2. Ensure no errors are appearing during the loading of your settings.
  3. If you want to set a server password or whitelist players, you can do so by editing the configuration files in the Files tab.
For most standard setups, simply starting the server with default settings is sufficient to begin playing!

Find Your Server Address & Join

To join your Factorio world, you need its address.

In the HypeServ panel, you will see your server's IP and Port displayed prominently above the console area. If you have set up a custom subdomain, that will be shown instead of the raw IP.

Open Factorio, go to Multiplayer, and click Add server. Enter your subdomain (or IP:port) as the address and click connect.

If everything is correct, you should spawn into your brand-new Factorio world!

What happens next?

Your server is now live 🎉. You've successfully launched your industrial dream!
